- Lighting Design
The use of light is a fundamental aspect of our daily lives, whether it be natural light or artificial light. The primary goal of this project is to create a lighting effect that not only illuminates a space but also ties in with a particular storyline or theme. By using light as a medium, we can enhance the overall ambiance and atmosphere of a space while also conveying a specific message or emotion to the viewer.

Inspiration for the product — The Monkey King
The Chinese myth of the Monkey King, also known as Sun Wukong, is a well-known tale that originates from the classic Chinese novel "Journey to the West." The story follows the adventures of the Monkey King, who is a mischievous and powerful character that possesses incredible strength and magical abilities. Throughout the novel, the Monkey King goes on a journey to retrieve sacred Buddhist texts from India while encountering various obstacles and adversaries along the way. The story is known for its themes of self-discovery, friendship, and the pursuit of wisdom and enlightenment.
Rather than focusing solely on the monetary aspect of the Monkey King, my design aims to tell his life story through a sculptural piece that goes beyond just being a lamp. By incorporating elements of Chinese culture into my design, I hope to spread awareness and appreciation for this rich culture to others.
To effectively and abstractly tell the Monkey King's story, I conducted research and divided his journey into important experiences and events. This approach allows me to convey his story in a more impactful and creative way.

Second Model
Initially, I had the idea of casting a shadow of the Monkey King on the floor with my design, but I was concerned that it might create a crowded and overwhelming light effect. However, after stumbling upon some pictures, I came up with the idea of cutting out a piece and incorporating it into the design as a shadow puppet decoration on the lamp cube. This approach would add a unique and playful element to the design while paying homage to the Monkey King myth.
